Pride (In the Name of Love) at Sphere on 7 October U2023.
As with the acoustic version of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For at Sphere, Edge strikes some of the chords and Bono sings some of the lyrical changes heard in the Songs of Surrender version. The acoustic section of the earlier shows featured more of this Songs of Surrender element, but as the show evolved during the run, this facet was deemphasized.
During one of the early shows, Bono had mentioned the acoustic set was going to be an opportunity for the band to showcase a different album each week. That never really played out. In addition, the songs in these early shows seemed to draw from the Songs of Surrender revisions of 40 U2 songs and it might've been the intent — at some point — to have this acoustic set feature a different group of songs each week as presented in Songs of Surrender. That's a hypothesis on my part.
Four strings are better than six, Bono says of Adam's bass guitar. That's also what I say about my (Fender) ukelele. And I'm now learning about the bass ukelele. It's a real thing.
