More On That Slane II Sell Out
|

All the tickets went in 94 minutes - but this time with no boost from an advance e-mail offer to U2.COM members. In fact, circumstances didn't allow it this time. The second Slane show had been talked about for many months but the go-ahead by local licensing authorities in Meath was not given until Monday morning - and the advice of the Irish police was for tickets to go on sale immediately. Although at U2.COM we have been able to alert registered members to on-sale times and dates and pre-sale information for almost all the 80-plus dates of Elevation 2001, the unusual circumstances of this additional Slane show for September 1st meant providing advance information was not an option. As promoters SFX explained, 'the 'on-sale immediately' system was implemented following advanced-detailed consultation with the Gardai Authorities and Ticketmaster in the interests of public safety.' At U2.COM we were able to make a limited number of tickets available to members who logged on on Monday but they also sold out very quickly. Our apologies to fans who would have liked to have bought tickets for the show and were hoping for a lead from us. In future, whenever it's possible we will. |
